MAN
Is A Sinner And Therefore Separated From God By His Sin.
In learning about what the Bible says about us. We must keep in mind that what we will learn here is how the Lord sees us, not necessarily how our family and friends see us.
Romans 3:10 & 23
10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Isaiah 53:6
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
The old and new testaments of the Bible have a united message for us. Since the literal fall of man in the Garden of Eden all mankind have this problem of sin.
Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
None can deny that we are ALL sinners. The Lord, through the Bible, declares it. All who are honest know it.
Even at our very best, we are still sinners before God.
Isaiah 59:2 tells us what this means in relation to Almighty God.
Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
As Isaiah told Israel that their sin separated them and their God so our sin separates us from Him. This is so because God is Holy, He cannot allow anything that is sinful to enter His presence.

Man Cannot Save Himself
Whenever we’ve done something wrong, we immediately think, “How do I get out of this problem?” In this case, “How do I get rid of this sin problem?”, “How can I be reconciled to God?” “What must I do?”
God’s standard is perfection. The Lord’s standard is Himself. He is perfect, therefore to be acceptable to Him we must be perfect.
Matthew 5:48 “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”

The honest person knows that they are not perfect. Even if you could start being perfect, what about the sin your past? The Bible has much to say about our efforts. Here are some verses:
The first two verses tell us that our efforts to keep the Ten commandments, or God’s laws, are beyond our capability.
Galatians 3:10 “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.”
Galatians 3:10 says that anyone who attempts to come to God through keeping the law (“as many as are of the works of the law”), are under a curse because then they must keep the whole of the law. Why cursed? Because no one can keep the law perfectly. They are attempting the impossible.
James 2:10 also tells us of the hopelessness of trying to keep the law:
James 2:10 “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Its one thing trying to keep a perfect record for a short space of time, but your whole life!
The next two Scriptures address the idea of ‘working for’ or ‘earning’ the Lord’s acceptance (using the words “saved” each time).
Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”
Again we turn to … Ephesians 2:8-9
8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Titus 3:5 and Ephesians 2:8-9 tell us that “works of Righteousness which we have done” will not save us from our sins. That being saved is “not of yourselves” (self effort) nor is it “of works” (good works that we have done) that we are saved.
Do you see how that the Lord has revealed that keeping the 10 commandments or the law won’t save you? Nor will any other effort or work on your part to earn acceptance or salvation succeed?
