Creation
The account of creation as is revealed in Genesis 1 and 2 is very simple considering all that happened in those six, twenty four hour days. One may also think that all that the Lord did was make a physical world and many different living organisms including all the living creatures that we have. Man being the crown of all creatures being made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26).
The ‘laws of nature’ are part of life in God’s world that we must recognize in order to live. These ‘laws of nature’ are the musts of life that are ignored to our peril. The following are a list of examples of what I mean by ‘laws of nature’:
- The law of Gravity
- We must breath
- We must eat food, and drink liquids
- We must sleep
- Etc.
These ‘laws’ are part of God’s design of His world. We are used to them and they are so part of life that we don’t usually think of them as burdensome.
There are other ‘laws’ that many miss because they are not so widely recognized as the ‘laws of nature’ mentioned above. We could call these laws ‘spiritual laws.’ These are laws that are known to God’s followers, or His children to whom He has revealed them to. Where the ‘laws of nature’ are essential to life in God’s world, the ‘spiritual laws’ are essential to living the highest quality life possible in God’s world.
These spiritual laws are in place, by design, by the Lord to elevate an individuals daily life to the abundant life that God offers to all.
This is shown in:
- The Lord’s promise to the Israelites about to enter the promised land.
Deuteronomy 7:9-16
9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
15 And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
16 And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.
In verses 9 it is declared that the Israelite's, and those who love Him and keep His commandments in those days, will enjoy a covenant with Him, and know His mercy. From verses 13 to 16 they are promised that every area of life will be blessed by God. Meaning that no aspect of life will fail. The Lord would ensure that every part of their lives would prosper. Prosper them in ways that only the Lord Himself could prosper them.
Israel were to be the example nation to the world in their day of the nation that had Jehovah as their God. Deuteronomy 4:1-10. The plan being that any nation, or individual person, could see, through Israel’s relationship with the Lord, that there is only one true God and the God of Israel is that God. That only through yielding to the Lord and obeying Him could one enjoy the same abundant life with God as Israel did. In those days individuals of other nations could become part of the nation Israel and enjoy the same relationship with God. Where every aspect of live was prospered by God Himself.
- The promise of God to every Christian
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Since the day of Pentecost, when the Church was started, the Lord has been working through the Church to fulfill His purposes in this world. The Christian who loves God has ‘all things working together for their good’. The Holy Spirit Who indwells every believer is intimately involved in every born again believer’s life. He is working at changing them to be like the perfect example – the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord’s commitment to the individual believer is such that He guarantees them that ‘all things will work together for their good.’ That means that the Lord protects them from all things that would harm them. That He allows or arranges experiences in life for their good, for their development.
The life of the believer is so good in Christ that the apostle Paul after describing who the believer is to God, exclaims, …
Romans 8:31-32
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?Once again we see that life in God’s world comes with guarantees when lived His way – Truth.
(Both of these above truths are expanded on in their own section further on in this study.)
